Carla Ricci

 

Carla Ricci began practicing Yoga (Iyengar Yoga) in 1985 with her theatre group, Zona Franca, under Rena Mirecka in collaboration with J. Grotowski. In 1987 she continued to study under Moreno Lupetti of the Italian Yoga Federation (FIY).
She discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 1995 and organized a course for a Canadian teacher, Danny Paradise, in the Umbrian countryside. It was on this occasion that she met her future teachers: Lino Miele and Tina Pizzimenti and organized more yoga retreats in Umbria.
In 1995 she continued practicing Ashtanga Yoga under Lino Miele in India, Italy, Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
From 1996-1997 she studied in India under John Scott, Guendoline Hunt and Lino Miele in Kovalam Beach and then in Mysore with Pattabhi Jois.She returned again in India in 1998 to study with Lino Miele for a month in Kovalam and for an additional month with John Scott.
From 1995-2003 she followed all of Lino Miele's workshops and retreats in Italy and returned to Rome periodically to study closely with Tina Pizzimenti.
In 2003 she assisted teacher Bruno Dietziker during a retreat in Kiental (Switzerland).
In 2004 she spent a month in Crete studying under Radha and Pierre.
In May 2005 she attended a Teacher Training course with Richard Freeman in London.
In August 2005 she returned to Crete and to the Yoga Plus Centre to practice under the guidance of Radha and Pierre.
In October 2005 she studied under Pattabhi Jois's son, Manju Jois.
In December 2005 she attended David Swenson's workshop in Bologna.
In March 2006 she attended more of Swenson's teachings Bologna.
In July 2006 she attended Nancy Gilgoff's workshop.
In August 2006 she attended Nancy Gilgoff's teacher training in Vienna.
In March 2007 she attended Richard Freeman teacher's training in London, while in September she organized and attended Manju Jois teacher's training in Perugia.
In December 2008, she practiced meditation with Moiz Palaci and Renata Angelini and the following April organized an intensive retreat with Manju Jois.
June 2008, she followed the teacher's intensive course under the guidance of Richard Freeman and his wife Mary Taylor from Boulder (Colorado).
Then, September 2009 found her in London for a teacher training programme with Richard and Mary again.

Carla Ricci is regional coordinator of the National Yoga Teachers' Association (YANI) and Director of the ‘InYoga' association (Via Antonio Canova 8, Lacugnano, Perugia). She practices Vipassana meditation and along with her regular training, attended Sathyananda centres to develop her kriya and kirtan practices. She continues to attend the biannual ‘advanced philosophy of Yoga' programme held by Alessandro Maniá in Milan, recognized by YANI. Since 1986 she has also studied, practiced and taught Korean and Chinese shiatsu massage with Giuseppe Patregnani and JB Rishi (Bologna, Piacenza and various retreats around Italy).
